Cornell University Tata Scholarship
The Cornell University Tata Scholarship is a prestigious program established through a collaboration between Cornell University and the Tata Education and Development Trust, an initiative of Tata Sons with philanthropic objectives. This scholarship is designed to provide substantial support to exceptional undergraduate students from India who exhibit notable leadership qualities, academic excellence, and a dedicated commitment to making positive contributions to their communities.
Recipients of the Tata Scholarship are entitled to the full coverage of tuition costs throughout their entire undergraduate tenure at Cornell University. The scholarship is awarded annually to a limited number of students and is renewable for up to four years, contingent on the student maintaining satisfactory academic performance and fulfilling the ongoing requirements of the scholarship program. This initiative reflects the commitment of Cornell University and the Tata Education and Development Trust to nurturing and empowering promising individuals from India to pursue higher education and contribute meaningfully to society.

  • Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicants must be permanent residents of India. Non-Indian citizens or dual citizens are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Students must be applying for admission as first-year students to Cornell University for a full-time undergraduate program of study.
  • Applicants should have an excellent academic record, which includes being in the top 1% of their secondary school graduating class. Strong standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are also expected. list items
  • Candidates must demonstrate significant financial need. The scholarship is intended for students from lower-income backgrounds who may not have the financial resources to afford a Cornell education.
  • Students should have successfully completed their 12th standard with a minimum of 70% marks.
  • Eligible applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate course at Cornell University.
  • Applicants should belong to financially unstable families, indicating a need for financial assistance.
  • Indian students must qualify for the English Language Proficiency Test.
  • Note: This scholarship is open twice in a year, January - March and October - November.
