DBT-RamalingaswamI Re-Entry Fellowship 2023: The Indian Nationals who are working in Overseas Research Institutions for the Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship can submit their applications as the call for this re-entry scheme is from the Department of Biotechnology DBT of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
The Ramalingaswamy Re-entry Fellowship Scheme has been conceptualized with the aim of attracting highly skilled researchers (Indian Nationals) working overseas in various cutting-edge disciplines of any area of Life Sciences & Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bio-engineering, Healthcare (human and animal), Environment, Energy, Agriculture and Veterinary biotechnology, Bio-energy, and allied areas by providing them an attractive avenue to pursue their R&D interests in Indian universities/institutions.
Eligibility:
1. Nationality: Indian citizens only are eligible to apply.
2. Age Limit: The upper age limit for applying is 45 years as of the closing date of the application.
3. Area of Research: Applicants working in any area of life sciences & biotechnology, bio-engineering, healthcare (human and animal), agriculture and veterinary biotechnology, bio-energy, and allied areas will be eligible to apply.
4. Qualification & Experience: Applicant should possess a Ph.D/MD degree or equivalent in life sciences/ agriculture, bioinformatics, and allied areas or M.Tech in engineering or technology/ medicine, etc. with at least three years of post-doctoral research experience in overseas research laboratories. Applicants should have a proven/outstanding track record as evidenced by research publications and recognitions.
5. Those who have already returned to India within one year of the closing date of the advertisement (two years for women candidates) are also eligible to apply; however, if they have secured a permanent position in India within this period then they are not eligible to apply.
Benefit:
Monthly Remuneration :
The selected candidates will get consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs.1,00,000/-(One Lac) per month.
House Rent Allowance :
In addition to the above, the fellows will also get a House Rent Allowance of Rs. Eighteen Thousand Five Hundred (18500/-) (consolidate) per month. If the Host institutes provide accommodation to the selected candidates, then no HRA is admissible.
Research/contingency grant:
The selected candidates will get a research/contingency grant of Rs. 10,00,000/- (Ten lacs) for the 1st year and 2nd year, Rs. 7,50,000/- (seven lacs fifty thousand) for the 3rd and 4th year, and Rs. 5,00,000/- (five lakhs ) for 5th year for the purchase of consumables, minor equipment, international and domestic travel, engaging manpower and other contingent expenditure to be incurred for the implementation of the research proposal.
Other Benefits :
Medical benefits, transport allowance, leave travel allowance and other benefits DBT encourages host institutions to provide these as per their prevailing norms for their employees of equivalent rank.

The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of three years. In exceptional cases, the duration of the award may be extended by additional two years after a fresh appraisal of performance.
