Inspire Faculty Fellowship
The "Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)" scheme, initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers opportunities to exceptional young Indian students in the fields of basic and natural sciences at the college and university level. It also supports research careers in various domains, including engineering, medicine, agriculture, and veterinary sciences.
One of the components of INSPIRE is the Faculty Fellowship, which provides post-doctoral fellowships to young achievers aged between 27 and 32 years with a Ph.D. qualification. The fellowship duration is 5 years, during which recipients can carry out post-doctoral research in both basic and applied science areas, along with translational research in the Science and Technology (S&T) domain.

Class X Mark Sheet or Certificate: Proof of Date of Birth.
Mark sheets of educational qualifications: Including 12th, UG & PG Program.
Ph.D. degree certificate: Marksheets/certificate of XII, B.Sc, M.Sc, and Ph.D. degree should be uploaded along with publications as a single PDF.
Community/Caste Certificate (only for SC/ST applicants): If applicable.
Proof of disability (for persons with benchmark disability only): Should be uploaded along with the Date of Birth as a single PDF.
Appointment letter (if employed).
Proposed area of research and brief outline of the proposal: Maximum allowed word count: 2500. It should include sub-sections such as Origin of the proposal, objectives, brief outline of the methodology to be adopted, significance of the proposal in the context of the current status in the field, and prospects of this work for extending it as a long-term project beyond the tenure of the "INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship" position.
Details of Professional Training and Research Experience: Maximum allowed word count: 2000. This should specify the period and provide information about your professional training and research experience.
Details of work done so far and the significance of the scientific contribution: Maximum allowed word count: 1000.
List of publications in three categories: Published, accepted for publication, and submitted. The publication details should contain Authors' Name, Title of the paper, Journal Name, Volume, Year, Page Numbers, and Impact Factor.
Eligibility Criteria
Indian citizens and People of Indian origin with PIO status are eligible if they hold a Ph.D. degree in science, mathematics, engineering, pharmacy, medicine, or agriculture-related subjects from any recognized university worldwide.
Candidates should have a minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) throughout their academic journey, starting from the Senior Secondary Examination (Class 12 onwards).
Those who have submitted their Ph.D. theses and are awaiting the award of the degree can also apply. However, selection for the Fellowship will be confirmed only after the Ph.D. degree is awarded.
The upper age limit for General Category applicants as of January 1, 2023, is 32 years. However, for SC/ST/Women candidates, the upper age limit is extended to 37 years on the same date. For persons with benchmark disabilities (Divyangjan) with not less than 40 percent of a specified disability, the upper age limit is 42 years.
Candidates must have publications in highly reputed journals that demonstrate their outstanding research potential. However, applicants seeking the Faculty Fellowship in the new subject area of 'Translational Research in S&T' must have at least one granted patent to their credit.
For those applying under the new subject area of 'Translational Research in S&T,' the host institution must be chosen from S&T institutions with Central/State Govt supported Technology Business Incubators (TBIs). This ensures that deep-tech research can be mentored and conducted in conjunction with the TBI.
Candidates currently employed in regular/contractual positions within India may also apply for the INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship to enhance their career prospects. However, if selected, they will need to resign from their current job and organization before taking up the fellowship. No lien, deputation, or any type of leave will be accepted. Candidates who secure a regular position in any institute/university after submitting the IFF application will be entitled to receive the Research Grant only as INSPIRE Faculty Fellows.
Candidates within the top 1% in the Class 12 examination, IIT-JEE rank holders, and 1st rank holders in graduation or post-graduation level university examinations are encouraged to apply.

Each qualified INSPIRE Faculty Fellow will be entitled to a consolidated monthly fellowship amount of Rs. 1,25,000/-.
Furthermore, every successful candidate will receive a Research Grant of Rs. 7.0 lakh annually for a period of 5 years, which may also include any unutilized funds from the previous years.
It is important to note that the monthly fellowship amount of Rs. 1,25,000 is all-inclusive and subject to taxation according to the Indian IT Act.
