Deutsche Bank has joined hands with Smile Foundation to launch a significant initiative aimed at empowering 200 young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in India. The partnership focuses on providing engineering scholarships to students in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Mumbai, and Pune, enabling them to pursue a four-year engineering course at selected colleges within these cities. Eligibility for the scholarship is extended to first-year engineering students with an annual family income below 500,000 rupees and an aggregate score of 60 percent or higher in their secondary and higher secondary examinations. Successful candidates, identified through a comprehensive interview and screening process, will receive an annual scholarship of up to 100,000 rupees, a laptop, career training, and support with internships and job placements.
Furthermore, Smile Foundation will offer training to scholarship recipients, while Deutsche Bank's staff volunteers will provide mentorship and ongoing support throughout the four-year program. Khurshed Dordi, Deutsche Bank’s Group Chief Operating Officer for India, expressed the hope that the Deutsche Bank Engineering Scholarship will assist talented young women in overcoming challenges and realizing their academic aspirations.
