The Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribes (ST) is a government-funded initiative implemented by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland. This centrally sponsored scheme aims to provide financial assistance to eligible ST students pursuing higher education starting from class XI onwards. The scholarship is directly transferred to the students' bank accounts, enabling them to access quality education.
Documents Required
To apply for the scholarship, students will typically need to provide the following documents:
Proof of ST category (ST certificate).
Income certificate of parents/guardians.
Institution enrollment proof with valid AISHE/UDISE code.
Bank account details linked with Aadhar and Mobile number.
Attested Xerox copy of the last qualifying final examination Marksheet.
Attested Xerox copy of Scheduled Tribe Certificate and Indigenous Certificate issued by the competent designated authority.
A copy of the synopsis of the proposed research work, duly countersigned by the Guide or Supervisor (for Ph.D. scholars).
A Xerox attested copy of the Registration Card/Letter (for Ph.D. scholars).
Xerox copy of the front page of the Bank Passbook.
Xerox copy of the Aadhaar Card.
Xerox copy of the Admission receipt.
One recent passport photograph should be pasted on the printed form
Eligibility Criteria
Post Matric ST:
Be pursuing post-matric (above class X) studies.
Belong to the Scheduled Tribe of Nagaland.
Have parents/guardians with an annual income not exceeding ₹2.50 lakh (Rupees Two Lakh Fifty Thousand) from all sources.
Be enrolled in an institution with a valid AISHE/UDISE code and empanelled with the Scheme Implementing Agency, Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland.
Possess a valid bank account in a Scheduled Bank linked with Aadhar and Mobile number.
Not be repeaters who have failed in their last examination.
Not have availed this scholarship at one stage/level of their education and are currently studying in another stream/subject of the same stage/level.
Not be beneficiaries of any other scholarship scheme. Not be employed by any government/semi-government establishment.
Students pursuing Diploma/Certificate Courses can also apply, provided their course duration is not less than two years.
Students studying in NIOS must meet specific subject combinations for class 11 and 12 level courses.
State Based Merit Eligibility:
Non-indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland who have permanently settled in Nagaland and secured a position within the top 10 ranks in their Board/University (within Nagaland) can also apply.
They should provide the necessary documents along with a Xerox copy of the Permanent Resident Certificate issued by the competent authority.
Fresh applications are accepted from students in the first year of their course.
Engineering students with lateral entry into the 2nd year of an Engineering Degree Course after completing an Engineering Diploma are also eligible to apply as Fresh candidates.
Ph.D. Scholarship Eligibility:
This scholarship is applicable to Scheduled Tribe and Indigenous students of Nagaland pursuing
M.Phil/Ph.D./D.Litt. courses from recognized universities within India.
Fresh applications are open exclusively to first-year M.Phil/Ph.D./D.Litt. scholars.
Entry into this Scholarship Scheme is limited to the first year of the research program.
