National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has introduced a new scheme aimed at providing financial assistance to students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category. The National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education scheme offer fellowship and scholarship amounts to support students in pursuing higher education, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic aspirations. The initiative focuses on empowering students from rural areas, enabling them to build a better future and achieve self-reliance through education.

Fellowship: BPL certificate Caste certificate Passport size photograph Passing certificate of post Physical handicap certificate (if any) Non-judicial Bond Certificate from the head of department Award letter Joining report Upgradation certificate Proof of bank account Continuation certificate from the institution HRA Progress report. Scholarship: Aadhar card Domicile certificate Bonafide certificate Passport size photograph Income certificate from competent authority Fee Receipt Proof of bank account
Eligibility Criteria
Fellowship: Candidate must be an Indian. Candidates must have successfully completed the post-graduation examination. The applicant should be admitted or registered for a full-time M.Phil/Ph.D. program in recognized institutions under section 2 (f) of the UGC. Fulfillment of the prescribed UGC/ICAR norms is mandatory. Scholarship: Candidate must be an Indian. The applicant should have secured admission to an institution identified by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The annual family income of the student should not exceed more than 6 lakhs.

Fellowship: For MPhil ST students: Rs. 750 per month. For MPhil students: Rs. 25,000 per month fellowship, Rs. 10,000 per annum contingency (humanities and social sciences), Rs. 12,000 per annum contingency (science, engineering, and technology), and HRA as per rules. For M. Phil students with physical disabilities or blindness: Rs. 2,000 per month as escort and reader assistance. For Ph.D. students: Rs. 28,000 per month fellowship, Rs. 20,500 per annum contingency (humanities and social sciences), Rs. 25,000 per annum contingency (science, engineering, and technology), and HRA as per rules. For Ph.D. students with physical disabilities or blindness: Rs. 2,000 per month as escort and reader assistance. Scholarship: Full tuition fee assistance of Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum. Rs. 3,000 per annum for books and stationery. Rs. 2,200 per annum for living expenses (mixed ceiling of Rs. 26,400 per annum). One-time assistance of Rs. 45,000 for computer and accessories.
