SWANATH Scholarship
The SWANATH Scholarship Scheme for Students, administered by AICTE, is dedicated to providing motivation and support to particular groups of students. This includes orphans, children of parents who lost their lives due to Covid-19, as well as the children of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces personnel who were martyred in action (Shaheed). The primary aim of this initiative is to give these deserving students the opportunity to pursue education and prepare for a successful future by enrolling in AICTE-approved institutions and courses
Documents Required
For Orphan Candidates:
  • Death Certificates of both Father & Mother (if available) OR A certificate issued by Tehsildar / S D M as per enclosed format (Annexure – I).
  • Bonafide Certificate issued by the institution.
  • 10+2 / equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for Degree Level
  • 10th /equivalent Mark sheet for Diploma Level
  • Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)
  • For Candidates whose either or both Parents Died due to Covid 19:
  • Death Certificate of Father/Mother or both explicitly mentioning that the death was due to Covid-19.
  • If one parent (Father or Mother) is alive, current year income certificate, explicitly mentioning that income of family less than 8 Lakh, issued by Competent Authority.
  • Bonafide Certificate issued by the institution.
  • 10+2/equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for Degree Level
  • 10th /equivalent Mark sheet for Diploma Level
  • Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)
  • For Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)
  • Death Certificate.
  • Shaheed Certificate issued by the Armed Forces/ Central Paramilitary Forces
  • Bonafide Certificate issued by the institution.
  • 10+2/equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for Degree Level
  • 10th /equivalent Mark sheet for Diploma Level
  • Current year income certificate, explicitly mentioning that income of family less than 8 Lakh, issued by Competent Authority.

  • Eligibility Criteria
  • To be eligible for the SWANATH Scholarship, candidates must fall into one of the following categories:
    (i) Orphan
    (ii) Either or both parents have tragically lost their lives due to Covid-19
    (iii) Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces personnel martyred in action (Shaheed).
  • The total annual family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the financial year of the scholarship application. Applicants are required to enclose a valid income certificate issued by the State/UT Government.
  • Eligible candidates should currently be enrolled in AICTE-approved institutions and courses at the degree or diploma level in regular mode. This includes students in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study.
  • Candidates should not be recipients of any scholarships sponsored by the Central Government, State Government, or AICTE.

    Please note that students meeting the conditions outlined at Serial Numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 above are the only ones eligible for this scholarship.
  • This scholarship eligible courses are technical, undergraduate & Diploma in various fields.

    List of Benefits
  • The SWANATH Scholarship offers an annual grant of Rs. 50,000.00 for each year of study. This scholarship is available for a maximum of 4 years for first-year admitted degree-level students and a maximum of 3 years for diploma students. The scholarship is provided as a lump sum and can be used to cover various educational expenses, including college fees, the purchase of computers, stationery, books, equipment, software, and more. It's important to note that no additional grants will be awarded for hostel charges, medical expenses, or similar expenses.
  • For students currently enrolled in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year at the degree level, the scholarship duration will be adjusted to 3, 2, or 1 year, respectively. Similarly, for students in their 2nd or 3rd year at the diploma level, the scholarship duration will be reduced to 2 or 1 year, respectively
  • Terms and Conditions
  • Applications will be invited once in a year through National e-Scholarship Portal of the Government of India.
  • Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. Only verified online applications will be considered for the award of scholarship.
  • ‘AADHAR number is Mandatory for applying for this scheme. Applications will not be accepted without the AADHAR number of the Candidate.’
  • If a candidate fails/ drops out in subsequent year, he / she will not be eligible for further scholarship.
  • The grant of scholarship is subject to the condition that the student does not receive any financial assistance in shape of scholarship/any emoluments, salary, stipend etc. from any other source during her/ his course of study in the Institute. In case of receipt of any financial assistance from any other sources, the scholarship shall be discontinued and the entire amount of scholarship will have to be refunded to AICTE by D/Draft drawn in favour of “Member Secretary, AICTE” payable at New Delhi.
  • Scheme will be implemented and monitored by the AICTE.
  • For converting Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to percentage, multiplying factor will be 9.5 i.e. to convert the CGPA into percentage; CGPA X 9.5 will give the percentage.
  • In case both CGPA & Total marks are given in the mark sheet, total marks will be considered for determining percentage.
  • If grades are given like A1, A2, B1, B2 etc. in the mark sheet, first the grades will be converted into CGPA and then average CGPA will be calculated. This CGPA will be converted into percentage as given in point No. 7.
  • For the purpose of the calculation of percentage in 10+2, marks secured by candidate in any five subjects taken in 10+2 of various boards (CBSE/ISC etc) to be considered.
  • Provisional list of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the AICTE web portal. In case, candidate has any query about merit list of scholarship, they may raise their grievances within a month. No query regarding merit list will be entertained after one-month duration from the date of publishing of merit list on AICTE website.
  • Query regarding non-payment of the scholarship due to invalid/ wrong account number will be entertained only up to six months from the date of publishing of merit list on AICTE website
  • Selection Criteria
    Degree Level Criteria: Selection Based on Qualifying Examination:
  • Candidates for the Degree Level scholarship will be chosen solely based on their merit in the qualifying examination for pursuing a Degree course at any of the AICTE approved institutions.
  • The selection is determined by the percentage of marks obtained in the 10+2 or equivalent examination.
  • Methods for Resolving Ties (Degree Level): In the case of tied percentiles (similar scores), the following procedures will be adopted:
  • Percentage of Marks in 10th Examination: If the qualifying examination percentile doesn't resolve the tie, then a higher percentage of marks in the 10th examination will be given preference.
  • Age: If the percentile in the 10th examination doesn't break the tie, the candidate who is older will be ranked higher.
  • Annual Family Income: If the methods mentioned above do not resolve the tie, then the candidate with the lower annual family income will be ranked higher.
  • Diploma Level Criteria: Selection Based on Qualifying Examination:
  • Candidates for the Diploma Level scholarship will be selected solely based on their merit in the qualifying examination for pursuing a Diploma course at any of the AICTE approved institutions. The selection is determined by the percentage of marks obtained in the 10th or equivalent examination.
  • Methods for Resolving Ties (Diploma Level): In case of tied percentiles, the following procedures will be adopted:
